The entire Formula 2 season can be played independently of the career mode. It features two fictional drivers, Lukas Weber and Devon Butler, who serve as the player’s teammate and adversary, respectively, and graduate to Formula 1 alongside the player at the conclusion of the scenario series. The Formula 2 championship is included in the game’s career mode as a series of brief scenarios called the F2 Feeder Series, which are aimed to build driver rivalries.

The game initially contained the 2018 championship’s teams, drivers, and calendar, with content from the 2019 season added to the game via an update in September 2019. With a Dallara F2 2018 displayed at the end of the announcement film, Codemasters confirmed the inclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Championship in the game.

This is the franchise’s ninth main series release, and it includes all twenty-one circuits, twenty drivers, and ten teams from the 2019 Formula One World Championship. It is the studio’s twelfth instalment in the Formula One series. Codemasters developed and published F1 2019, the official video game of the 2019 Formula One and Formula 2 Championships.
